DANCE OR DIE HARD - Demo 2003 CDR (DIY)

fairly new item at this time. One of the few successful attempts to play in the street convention core / hatecore in Poland, in addition to a girl on vocals ... Rather cool to play with old school influences Oi / street punk. Wroclaw DHOD existed briefly. Formed in October 2002. And, in 2004. played last concerts. They played mostly local, and in addition there were at a time when the Internet was not yet so widespread, so many people may not even know of their existence. The album got mail from them once, and when a few months later I wanted to invite them to a concert in Silesia it no longer existed. Band name comes from the title of course, one of the numbers Warzone. I found once in an interview with the network for some western DHOD webzine'a. The answers are Maciek, a guitarist.

Could you give us a brief history of your band (who you are, when I did you start).
We started back in October 2002, so not so long ago. We are five young, common people, who have the passion to play the music that they love, and that’s the whole story about us. Nothing less, nothing more.
What are your releases up til now?
We have only recorded one demo called simply “Demo 2003”. It is available at our website www.dhod.ssk.pl, but because the site is still only in Polish, it’s better to contact us via e-mail: dhod@ssk.pl. We made the whole thing by ourselves with a little help from our friend Adam, who helped us with recording process.
What are you all doing for a living?
Studying, working etc. We’re doing the best we can to get through this fuckin’ life.
Where does the name Dance Hard Or Die come from?
The name is taken from the title of one of Warzone's songs. It doesn’t have any special meaning to us. We like Warzone's music a lot, we like this one, so we’ve decided it would be a good name for our band.
How would you define the kind of music you're playing?
Something very near to oldschool, but it is not oldschool in its purest form. We mix it with punk rock, oi/street music and new school hardcore.
What are your main influences?
A lot of bands. In fact, it would be hard to name all of them but here are a few: Slapshot, Sick of it All, Agnostic Front, Warzone, Blood for Blood, Negative Approach, Minor Threat, Shutdown, Sheer Terror, 59 Times The Pain, Kill Your Idols and many more.
What are your lyrics about?
Well, I’m not responsible for the lyrics, but I can tell you that they are about our usual problems in general. We are not engaged in any political movement, we do not represent any ideological statements. We don’t like to waste our time so we don’t try to make the world better than it is. The lyrics are about pure, simple life, about things and people that are important to us, and about those who make us really pissed off. We don’t feel like talking about some imaginary issues.
Can you give us some words about the Polish scene.
There’s no such thing, and there never was, though some might think differently.
Could you describe us how a typical show of your band sounds/looks like.
I think it’s rather intensive and real fast.
What is the best/worst memory you've got of one of your shows?
We’ve played couple shows so far, and all of them were quite successful, so we don’t have any bad memories. Of course, some of them were better than the others, but we didn’t have any real bad experience, and the reactions were always enthusiastic. But I believe that everything is still ahead of us hehe.
Have you ever played outside Poland? What memories do you have of it??
Never. But I hope that some day…
What does those words mean to you:
-hardcore: fun & hard work for us, a hobby that give us a lot of joy
-Poland: well, our homeland
-life: too short to do everything you want to
How do you see yourself and/or D.H.O.D. in 5y?
I hope that we’ll be still doing what we started last year, and that we will have a lot of satisfaction and good fun with it.
How can people get hold of your material or get in touch with you if They Want You On Their bill?
Contact us by email: dhod@ssk.pl.
Do you have any final words?
Thanks for an interview. Peace and love hehehe

EDIT (2009-09-03): few days ago I got from Maciek with DHOD mail, which may be interesting for those interested:
"Heloł Fakir,
me, that is Maciek, I play for 5 years in grindcore'owym Ass To Mouth, which is already quite popular in climates in the uk and abroad and it takes me most of his free time, so unfortunately, you already gave up any hc / punk designs. Also only one of the team wherever they are actively August impart musically - Vito sits on the islands and I have no contact with him for a long time, Zeno further listens to muse, but not too far shows nowhere, and Justin in August unless her Ph.D at the University of Medicine and also the peace of mind away from playing. Stas Dhod played before some time The allegations in the State, and as early as during and after the punk Dhod the Unknown perpetrators who probably are not left behind any trace, except for a few concerts. With Stach it was in general so that it was a difficult case and everything posypało mainly by him and his totalitarian problems with alcohol, but rather from a fairly advanced alcoholism. Often drunk wsczynał strange adventures of contents and one such action, as we were returning from a concert in 2004 in Zielona Gora, it has been made with the sheets and their gear to pots in the middle of the road somewhere between Zielonka and Wroclaw, and in that time the band stopped exist. It was then not a lot of footage, which we did on pyte, and compared with the demo was a little faster, less street punk, and more striking in the old crossover (which is how I remember correctly, did not like Justin) Somehow in the middle of 2006, as all these przycichły acids between us, the idea came to play together again, we met up at five in some pub to talk about it and everything went ok until the August Stach napierdolił in Stockholm, he made his standard alkoholicką row and finally said, us to "fuck you". Later I saw him often in concert and always exchanged a few sentences, the last time we met in January 2007 on Mad Sin. Something talked about his new project, terribly jarał August, said that he had long been so good in my life were going. Three months later he killed himself by jumping from the fifth floor of his apartment window and a total of just do not really know why, because people from the surrounding proximal say after the fact, that last like seriously do well advised, and life and alcohol. After this action on "Réunion" will no longer come back and does not return, but it is nice to read on your blog about this material, I forgot to have him completely, I bring to listen tomorrow.
Kisses.
Maciek "
